REVIEW OF “LOVE SONGS FOR THE DAMNED” BY BUFFALO FAVORITE, DIRTY SMILE

716musicpost.com also gave us a wonderful review of our first recorded effort entitled "Love Songs for the Damned: Vol I" -- Very much appreciated! Thanks! Check it out below:

With ‘Love Songs for the Damned: Volume 1’ Dirty Smile shows us again, why they’re amongst the favorites in Buffalo. The EP opens up with a screaming lead guitar line from Jesse Raderman that really sets the tone for the EP.

The lyrics are catchy, especially in “The Vow” and “Mona Lisa”. And Megan Brown has a voice comparable to a softer, and more modern sounding Pat Benetar.

My favorite song on the EP is the second track entitiled, “Insanely Ever After”. The song touches on how love can make you crazy, something anyone can relate to. What I like most about the song though is the arrangement. It starts with abrupt instrumentals that start and stop like the beating of a heart, and upon the chorus turns into a more fluid sound, only to return to the abrupt verse again. The song represents the roller coaster that is vulnerability perfectly.

If you haven’t yet downloaded the EP, you can do so at http://dirtysmileband.bandcamp.com/yum for just $3 or you can order a hard copy in the form of a CD for $4. Dirty Smile is making big waves here in Buffalo, and if you haven’t checked them out live you absolutely should head to a show soon. Their next show is April 29th at Buffalo Iron Works. There’s no cover! Be sure you don’t miss out and add it to your calendar!
